Follow the yellow brick road to celebrate 22 years of Colorado Hands & Voices
There’s no place like home. Except when you are attending the Annual Colorado H&V benefit! Get your sponsorship or table of guests together to join us! Interested in helping out on the committees for live or silent auction items, entertainment or a little Emerald City decor?
First of all, save the date for our gala on Sunday, October 21 back at the Colorado casual Two Penguins Bar & Grill.
You won’t want to miss our annual evening dedicated to raising funds for our services for families raising children who are deaf or hard of hearing, and the networking among like-minded people.
Last year, we recognized Dianne Goberis, an innovative, energetic and highly skilled teacher of the Deaf/hard of hearing for the 2017 Families First Award winner. Submit your nominations now for the 2018 awards!
Interested in joining our volunteer committee? Event coordinator Julie Phifer wants to hear from you. Last year, we enjoyed everything from a Ryobi toolset to the 21 person Party Bus donated by Believe Kids, exclusive bottles of wine, a Steamboat condo, ReSound Linx hearing aids, and Hydroflask water bottles at the “Red, White or Water” wine or waterbottle pull. We also auctioned off a Livescribe Echo Smartpen, Buell Theater tickets for two, an American Furniture Warehouse gift certificate, a FloBots signed album, cupcake decorating set, Arapahoe and Ski Cooper lift tickets, handmade jewelry, a refinished rocker, and even vintage Colorado history books to carry out our Colorado theme. We are looking for items that would surprise and delight our guests, and perhaps an Oz-themed item or two.
Never attended our benefit before?
The staff at the Two Penguins was attentive and welcoming, providing a delicious buffet. Key Lime and Lemon Bars offered by Das Meyer Pastries, two Napoleon Cakes by The French Kitchen, gluten free red velvet cake by Kim and Jakes Cakes, NothingBundtcakes and apple crisp from Forest Hill Bakery rounded out the evening.
Guests purchased tables or individual tickets for the large event center, and we had the entire space to enjoy food and drink, auction items, speakers and live music. Guests enjoyed five complimentary beers and a cider along with the full cash bar for any specific wish. We enjoyed the Hesse Hurtado Acoustic Duo who is always fun, and even got a few people up dancing.
A huge thank you to our event sponsors below, our volunteer sign language interpreters, live captioning (CART) through Visible Voices, emcees, event committee, and of course the guests who always make the evening shine!
